Stafford University was founded in the year 1992, but it has historic roots back to 1906. North Staffordshire Polytechnic was established in 1971 as a result of several local mergers before it was later changed to Staffordshire university.

Courses and teaching

Stafford university is one of the few universities in the UK to offer undergraduate degrees on a fast track system, which means they take two years, instead of the traditional three. Staffordshire university is a specialist in secondary teacher training courses, which currently include PGCEs in Communications Technology, Mathematics, Business Education and Design and Technology. It is also the only university in the UK to offer a BA (Hons) in Cartoon and Comic Arts.

Tuition fees at Staffordshire university are £9,000 annually. 

Student life

It’s fun to know that Staffordshire university offers a wide variety of bars and night clubs should students fancy a change from the Student Union. Stoke-on-Trent offers probably the best nightlife in Staffordshire university, with a host of popular and busy pubs, taverns, bars and clubs. Facilities in Staffordshire university As a known fact to some, teaching is centred around two campuses in Stoke and Stafford. At Lichfield and Shrewsbury there are other two smaller campuses. Accommodation at Staffordshire university Staffordshire university offers on site accommodation at Stafford and Stoke campuses, which cost between £95 – £118 weekly with regards to whether the rooms are en suite or standard. 


Staffordshire university’s £30 million Science Centre opened at the end of 2012. Be glad to know that other teaching facilities include a professionally fortified media centre, a crime-scene house, a nature reserve, a drama studio and mock courtrooms. 


Arriving at Staffordshire university, you will see sports centres at both campuses, which include sports halls, fitness suites, dance studios and a variety of pitches. Okay! Rail The College Road site in Stoke is opposite the Stoke-on-Trent station and Stafford students can reach Stafford rail station by a short bus ride. 

Bus/Coach National Express

Staffordshire contains information for bus and coach services in Staffordshire. Staffordshire university also operates an inter-campus bus service for students moving between the Stoke and Stafford campuses. Airport Staffordshire university gives a free meet and greet service for international students who are arriving at either London Heathrow or Manchester International Airport. 

Students who are making domestic trips are advised to fly to Manchester International Airport.
