Latest Admission Requirements for International Undergraduate, Postgraduate and PhD Studies at the Universities in Netherlands (Holland)

Netherlands or better still Holland is among the non-English speaking countries that offer academic programs in English for International students that want to study in English. In Netherlands, you will get high and quality education on low tuition fees.
Undergraduate entry Requirements/First cycle studies (bachelor’s)

If you are applying for studies at the undergraduate level, you have to be in possession of a valid secondary school/High school results. Also, you are needed to prove your proficiency in Dutch or English language. In some cases, you are also required to take additional qualifying courses.

Summary:

  • A valid Secondary school/High school results
  • A proficiency result in Dutch or English language depending on your language of study
  • Pass any additional qualifying test that may be given.

Postgraduate entry Requirements/Second cycle studies (master’s)

For international students applying for master’s program,

  • A relevant bachelor’s or equivalent degree diploma

Doctorate entry Requirements/Third cycle studies (PhD)

Similarly, students applying for Doctoral studies have to be in possession of

  • A relevant bachelor’s or equivalent degree diploma

Language requirements for studies at universities in Netherlands (Holland)

Dutch

As I said earlier, if you are enrolling in a course in which Dutch is its language of instruction, you will need to show test rest results that testify that you are proficient in the language. Results from 

  • Certificaat Nederlands als Vreemde Taal (Certificate of Dutch as a Foreign Language)
  • Profiel Taalvaardigheid Hoger Onderwijs (PTHO)
  • Profiel Academische Taalvaardigheid (PAT)
  • Nederlands als tweede taal (NT2) (Dutch as a second language) are accepted

English

For studies in English, test results from any of these exams are valid as a proficiency result for your course in English.

  • TOEFL, with a score of at least 550 (paper-based) or 213 (computer-based) or 79-80 (Internet-based).
  • IELTS, with a score of at least 6.
  • Other tests may also be accepted.
